Certified and traceable goose and duck down and feathers
Carefully selected down and feathers form the basis of our high-quality down bedding. When sourcing these materials, billerbeck places great importance on traceable origins, defined quality standards and compliance with animal welfare and material quality requirements.
The down and feathers used by billerbeck are certified to various standards or have been awarded relevant eco-labels. These include the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), DOWNPASS, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the BLUE ANGEL.
The origin and supply chain of the down and feathers used are documented and verified in accordance with the specifications of the respective standard. This ensures compliance with requirements regarding origin, traceability back to the egg and animal welfare, which excludes live plucking and the sourcing of down and feathers from foie gras production.
High-quality manufacture of down duvets and down pillows
The down and feathers are carefully processed, washed, sorted and categorised into the Exclusiv, Classic and Basic ranges. All fillings used comply with European Standard EN class I (DIN EN 12934:1999).
Combined with selected cover fabrics, this results in down duvets and down pillows with high loft and low weight. The air trapped between the fine branches of the down gives them good thermal insulation properties and ensures a comfortable night’s sleep.
Certifications and eco-labels for down products
Depending on the product, billerbeck utilises various certifications and eco-labels. These relate to the requirements and scope of the relevant standard.
Our down products carry the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), DownPass or Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certificates, which guarantee strict animal welfare and environmental standards. In addition, selected products are labelled with the Blue Angel, which stands for particularly environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
