Everyone is talking about sustainability, but the term offers some room for manoeuvre as to what exactly it means. We explain how we at billerbeck define sustainability and, above all, how we put it into practice.
It is our motivation to think and act in a socially and ecologically responsible way – in line with the principle of sustainability.

We think in the long term and are constantly and intensively addressing the following issues, because sustainable business is essential now and for the future.

Our sustainability is based on three pillars
The challenge for us is to recognise the ecological and social requirements that also lead to economic success, in line with the three-pillar model of sustainability – the simultaneous and equal implementation of ecological, economic and social goals.
- Our environmental management ensures operational environmental protection – ecology. Durable products and modern production conditions enable us to operate in harmony with nature.
- With our quality management, we work on customer satisfaction and thus also on the economy. Reducing the use of materials and chemicals benefits the environment.
- Our occupational health and safety management covers the important area of social affairs. High social standards for our own employees and the employees of our suppliers.

Creating world firsts with sustainable products
The best proof of our commitment is the organic range, which is manufactured using resource-saving production methods.
This nature-oriented bedding programme meets our requirements for sustainable products that are free from synthetic raw materials. Only renewable organic materials are used in production. This is confirmed by certifications from renowned institutes and recognised standards.
Neck support pillow COSINECK NATURE®
The ecologically responsible production of the COSINECK NATURE® neck support pillow is certified with the Cradle to Cradle® certificate in the “Silver” category, among others. Cradle to Cradle® is an internationally recognised standard for documenting the use of environmentally safe, healthy and recyclable materials as well as the use of renewable forms of energy and compliance with social obligations. This is an independent certificate that assesses the safety of a product for people and the environment and the design for future life cycles.
The neck support pillow has also been awarded the GOTS certificate. This involves checking the entire sustainable production and supply chain. For example, the high environmental guidelines, organic raw materials and socially responsible conditions.
Natural latex mattress COSICOMFORT®
COSICOMFORT® combines the advantages of an ergonomic organic mattress made from natural materials with the sustainable production method of a natural latex material. The 100% natural latex mattress core is made from natural Vita Talalay® latex with no artificial additives, which has been awarded the Cradle to Cradle® certificate. The mattress is also characterised by GOTS-certified natural materials, which are guaranteed to come from controlled organic cultivation and controlled organic animal husbandry. The abbreviation GOTS stands for “Global Organic Textile Standard”, a certified, globally valid standard for textile processing from organically produced textile fibres.
