Winter duvet
Winter duvet - warm, soft and cosy
A winter duvet should protect us from the cold in the cold season and give us - like a protective shield - a feeling of comfort and security. We can advise you on buying a winter duvet in our online shop and show you which duvet suits you best.
A winter duvet should first and foremost be warm, but at the same time also ensure an even exchange of air and temperature, as trapped heat could in turn lead to sweating. Perhaps your bedroom is subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations or you also sleep with the window open in winter. In that case, a duvet for winter with a higher heat level would probably be advantageous.
What level of warmth should winter duvets have?
In winter, you are always happy to have a warm winter duvet, which is why you should choose a duvet with heat points 4 or 5; this corresponds to the heat levels "Warm" and "Warm+", compare this in our list of heat points and heat levels. For "Warm" we rely on the constructions Duo, Cassette II and Cassette III and for "Warm+" on Duo plus, Trio, Cassette IV, Cassette VI and Cassette X. Basically, cassette quilting is there to prevent the filling from slipping.

Which filling is good for winter blankets?
- Down: Winter blankets with down, this is for many still the epitome of cozy warmth and soft comfort and is still particularly in demand. By the way: Because of their washability, down is, besides fibres, the ideal filling for allergy sufferers.
- Eider down: The highest heat retention in the animal kingdom is achieved by the down of the eider duck. It also needs this in icy wind and weather at the polar circle. If you want to combine unbelievable lightness with the greatest warmth in your duvet for the winter, then go for the natural luxury product of the eider down duvet.
- Natural: Natural fibres are often materials that have been tried and tested for centuries, and provide warm comfort as a duvet filling in winter, both yesterday and today.
- Organic: Sustainable winter duvets with the GOTS seal are available from us with the fillings organic cotton and organic virgin sheep's wool.
- Fiber: Textile fibers or hollow fibers have an optimal temperature and moisture management and provide a cozy warmth. Let yourself be convinced by cellulose-based Lyocell (TENCEL TM) fibres or the billerbeck fibres AIRSOFT ®, AIRSOFT clean ®, AIRSOFT plus ®, AIRTEC ® and AIRMAGIC ®. For allergy sufferers, a winter duvet made from fibres is, along with down, the first choice.Nature: Pure new sheep's wool, camel hair, cashmere, wool or cotton bring warmth to your nights in a completely natural way.
The right care: What should be considered with winter quilts?
Air your duvet daily after sleeping to allow any remaining moisture to dry. Down comforters for winter can be washed in the same way as other down comforters. Natural hair quilts can also be hung out in freezing temperatures, which removes possible odours. Basically, please care for your winter duvet according to instructions, depending on the filling. You can find detailed instructions in our online shop under the product description, in the encyclopedia or in the blog.
