What properties do fibre toppers have?

Hollow fibres used in the textile sector are nothing more than spun threads made of polyester, which have various hollow spaces inside them. After spinning, the fibre threads are crimped. The combination of crimping and the thread's own voids ensures that these fibres are bulky and can trap air well. As a result, fibre toppers can store heat excellently, but also dissipate excess heat well. The same applies to moisture. This is also easily and effectively absorbed by fibre toppers, without the mattress topper feeling cool or damp, and then released again.

Fibre topper properties: indescribably soft and cosy

Breathable fibre toppers are at the same time particularly light and soft, offering a feel reminiscent of down fillings. This makes lying on fibre toppers extremely soft and cosy. A mattress topper with fibre filling thus always ensures a cosy and well-tempered sleeping comfort without negatively influencing the supporting and pressure-relieving properties of the mattress underneath in any way.
Special elastic bands at the corners of the fibre topper also allow the topper to be fixed to the mattress, preventing it from accidentally slipping during sleep. The washable and durable fibre toppers also provide the mattress with additional protection from dirt and wear, significantly increasing the life of the mattress.

Fibre toppers: dust mite allergy-friendly and vegan

Our billerbeck fibre toppers are suitable for everyone who wants to do without animal fillings in their bedding. Because they are easy to care for and can be washed at a minimum of 60 °C, dust mite allergy sufferers also like to use our mattress toppers with fibre filling.

What fibres are the billerbeck fibre toppers made of?

Our billerbeck fibre toppers are filled with different types of fibre. In addition to fillings made of 100% hollow polyester fibres, we also stock mattress toppers with climate fibres. These are fibre mixtures that have particularly good moisture and temperature management properties and thus always ensure a dry and comfortable temperature in the bed. Our specially developed billerbeck climate fibres in our fibre toppers generally consist of a mixture of hollow fibres and Lyocell (TENCEL TM), to some of which high-tech refined viscose has been added. An admixture of silver gives some of the fibre toppers in our range an antibacterial effect and thus ensures additional hygienic freshness in bed.

Can fibre toppers be washed?

Like all other billerbeck mattress toppers, our fibre toppers can be washed if necessary. Thanks to their special properties, fibre toppers can be washed in the washing machine at 60°C without any problems, or even at 95°C depending on the product, and can then be dried in the tumble dryer. This makes billerbeck fibre toppers ideal for people with dust mite allergy, as a washing temperature of at least 60 °C ensures that mites are reliably killed off.
Please follow the care instructions on the product before washing. Important: Only use liquid mild detergent to wash your fibre topper and do not use full detergent or fabric softener.
