Schlaf, Kindlein, schlaf - Children's blankets for restful nights

Children need restful sleep for healthy development. Only then can they optimally process the many impressions of the day and regenerate sufficiently. There are some factors that can negatively influence a child's sleep: If the child is cold or sweats, if the children's blanket is too heavy or too big, this can lead to restless nights. This is exactly where we can help you. Because in our online shop you will find a large selection of child-friendly and high-quality children's blankets that you can easily buy online. Because also for children applies: A good day begins at night.

What do you have to look out for in a children's duvet?

Very special demands are made on a children's duvet. Children cannot regulate their body temperature as well as adults. Therefore, a duvet for children must provide sufficient warmth on the one hand, but on the other hand it must also be so breathable that the sleeping child does not sweat. At the same time, a children's duvet should also create a good sleeping climate, i.e. it should be able to absorb moisture well and also release it again. The size of the duvet should also be suitable for children and their age. If all these criteria are met, a duvet will give your child a feeling of security and thus ensure a restful night's sleep.

What is the difference between the Kids and Junior range?

We offer two categories of children's duvets in our range:

  • Kids range:

Under Kids you will find duvets for babies and young children from 0 to 2 years old. These have been specially designed to meet the needs of children in the first 36 months of life.

  • Junior range:

In our Junior range, we stock duvets for toddlers and older children from the age of 3.

What is the significance of the TOG values in the Kids range of duvets?

If heat builds up under a children's duvet, this can not only cause restlessness and sleep problems for babies and young children, in the worst case scenario it can also affect the baby's health. In addition to the room temperature in the bedroom, which should ideally be between 18 and 20 °C, sleeping clothes and duvet are also important factors in preventing the child from overheating.

Our Kids range is specially designed to meet the needs of children in the first 36 months of life and complies with the EU standard DIN EN 16779-1. This assumes a normal body temperature of 36.5 to 37.5 °C, an ideal room temperature of 18 to 20 °C and suitable sleepwear, i.e. a short-sleeved bodysuit for warmer temperatures and pyjamas for cooler temperatures.

The TOG value indicates the thermal insulation or thermal resistance of a duvet and is therefore a measure of how well the heat is retained under the child's duvet. The higher the TOG value, the warmer the children's duvet.

In the Kids range in our online shop, we stock children's duvets with four different TOG values, depending on the respective room temperature of your sleeping quarters:

  • 2.0 to 2.5 T OG for room temperatures of 22 to 24 °C (light blanket)
  • 2.5 to 3.0 T OG for room temperatures of 20 to 22 °C (transitional and all-season duvet)
  • 3.0 to 3.5 T OG for room temperatures of 18 to 20 °C (transitional and all-season blanket)
  • 3.5 to 4.0 T OG for room temperatures of 16 to 18 °C (warm blanket)

When choosing a child's duvet, please always take into account the TOG value of the duvet, the room temperature of your sleeping quarters and the child's sleeping clothes. Never combine several bedding items such as sleeping bag and duvet or several blankets with each other, as this can cause the child to overheat.

What fillings are available in children's blankets?

  • Kids Down Blankets:

The children's duvets in our Kids and Junior ranges are offered with a variety of fill materials. Please note that every child has a different temperature sensitivity and the choice of filling material also depends on the personal and subjective well-being of the child.
Children's blankets with a filling of down are cuddly soft, light and supple. Goose down has excellent moisture-regulating properties and is breathable. In addition, down quilts can store heat excellently. Our children's duvets with down filling are ideal as transitional and all-season duvets.

  • Children's duvets with virgin sheep's wool:

Virgin sheep's wool is a natural filling material that can absorb a particularly large amount of moisture, making it especially suitable for children who tend to sweat. Furthermore, virgin sheep's wool regulates temperature, is self-cleaning and neutralises odours. Our children's duvets with virgin sheep's wool filling are ideal transitional and all-season duvets.

The virgin sheep's wool for our children's duvets comes from controlled organic animal husbandry and is GOTS certified.

  • Cotton duvet for children:

Cotton is a natural fiber that is characterized by robustness, durability and easy care. Children's duvets with cotton filling impress with a pleasant and soft lying comfort. Cotton has temperature and moisture regulating properties and is breathable. Therefore, our cotton children's blankets are particularly suitable as light blankets for the summer. In addition, cotton can be boiled at 95 °C and retains its shape even after many washes. Due to their boilability, cotton children's blankets are ideal for allergy sufferers.

Our children's duvet with a fibre filling is reminiscent of down duvets due to its soft feel and lightness. The summer duvet for children is particularly temperature and moisture balancing and breathable. In addition, the fibre duvet is washable up to 60 °C. This makes the fibre blanket for children ideal for allergy sufferers.

What material is the cover of children's duvets made of?

The covers of our children's duvets can be made of the following fabrics:

  • Batiste: soft batiste, down batiste and soft down batiste (100 % cotton).
  • Finecotton percale (100 % cotton)
  • Finesatin (100 % cotton)
  • Finesingle ply (100 % cotton)

In which warmth levels are our children's duvets available?

The billerbeck warmth points indicate the warming properties of a duvet and are broken down as follows:

  • Summer light - 1 heat point: the summer duvet for children is particularly popular on hot days.
  • Medium - 3 warmth points: Are the perfect nighttime companion for babies and children all year round.

Please note that only duvets with the same filling material should be compared on the basis of the billerbeck heat levels.

How can I wash the children's quilts?

The washability of our children's duvets depends on the filling material of the duvet and can be categorised as follows:

  • Down blankets wash up to 60 °C
  • Sheep's woolblankets wash up to 30 °C
  • Cotton blankets wash up to 95 °C
  • Fibre blankets wash up to 60 °C

Please also note the respective care label on the product.
