Fibre: hollow fibre, climate fibre and PCM
Duvet Fillings from Fiber: Hollow Fiber, Climate Fiber & PCM
Hollow fibers are spun threads with one or more cavities inside. In the textile industry, hollow fibers are mostly made of polyester. The cavities and additional crimping allow hollow fibers to trap air well, thus storing heat. Hollow fibers can be processed into fleece or fiber balls and serve as easy-care filling for blankets and pillows.
Climate fiber typically refers to a synthetic material blend that has particularly good temperature and moisture management. At billerbeck, hollow fibers are mixed with moisture-regulating Lyocell and fibers made of so-called Phase Change Material (PCM).
PCM or phase change materials can absorb excess heat by changing their state of matter and release it again when cooling down. This ensures a constant temperature for the sleeper in the duvet, even when body temperature drops at night.
Depending on the material mix, different functionalities and properties can be achieved. Therefore, also consider our fiber technologies like AIRTEC®, AIRSOFT®, AIRMAGIC® etc.
With proper care, fiber products can also be well washed in a standard household washing machine. Learn how to wash your fiber duvet and fiber pillow in our billerbeck YouTube videos:
